PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi declared that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, will be punished and not be granted a National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).

During his talk with Geo News, Faisal Karim Kundi pointed out that if talks with the PTI were to happen, then the matter of Imran Khan’s release would not be considered at all.

Kundi, the governor, alleged that the PTI had been untrustworthy in the past and were still misleading in their present negotiations, repeating the same old tale. He said that if, and when, there are negotiations, they would not include any discussions on offsets for the principal PTI.

Faisal Karim Kundi blamed PTI for the destruction of the province just for one individual and urged the party to now focus on the governance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He remarked that in the last 16 months of the government, not only allies but also PTI were invited to cooperate; however, PTI later started demonstrations, including the May 9 incidents.

He expressed that political matters should be settled through conversations but at the same time, he was critical of PTI leadership for giving out contradictory signals. In his view, PTI is talking about negotiations on one side while, on the other side, it is pushing for agitation through social media statements.

The governor, at the same time, made inquiries regarding PTI’s remote control of internal decision-making, stating that the party is divided and lacks faith among its leaders. He further remarked that PTI had mentioned names like Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas for the position of opposition leader but then distanced itself from the names.

Faisal Karim Kundi stated that PTI often sheds individuals as soon as it becomes clear that it no longer has any use for them.
