CHINIOT: Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, in his reaction to the conditions of the former prime minister at Adiala Jail, called for moving PTI founder to another jail. He emphasized that all prisoners need to be treated equally according to the rules of the jail.
Responding to media questions in Chiniot, the KP Governor claimed that he had sent a formal request to the Chief Minister of Punjab for a picket change of Imran Khan. He pointed out that inmates should be dealt with only as per the jail manual.
Governor Kundi was of the view that if one prisoner is given the facility of food cooked in the old style or is allowed to use a gym, then it is an act of injustice that is committed towards the rest of the prisoners.
Faisal Karim Kundi went on to say that the PM should take care of the issues of his own province instead of worrying about what was going on in the jail of Adiala. “We want law-abiding treatment for prisoners and not the giving of special privileges,” was his terse reply.
The governor underscored the need for working together with the central government for the overall development of the province besides saying that it is through dialogue and the use of the constitution that the provincial rights should be looked after.
On the issue of security, he stated that no dialogue with terrorists is feasible. To add, he said that now that the war on terrorism has been won, the international community is more than willing to do business with Pakistan. In a situation of contrast, however, he criticizes the PTI for organizing protests during the visits of foreign delegations to Pakistan.
Faisal Karim Kundi further went on to say that those who are guilty of corruption should not be freed just by plea bargains. He gave the example of Rs50 billion Kohistan scandal and the Billion Tree Tsunami project to say that while on these issues, no work was done, he was asking for the complete accountability of those involved in corruption.
