ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja has announced that fuel subsidy will only be provided for registered vehicles, making registration with the Excise Department mandatory.
During a press conference alongside Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, Shaza Fatima revealed that the Ministry of IT, the Ministry of Finance, and the State Bank are collaborating to initiate the process of transferring subsidies through a digital system.
She stated that the government is committed to ensuring there are no disruptions in the petroleum supply chain and that providing relief to the public during challenging times is a top priority.
The Federal Minister further noted that daily monitoring is being conducted under the leadership of the Prime Minister, with an active Steering Committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. The Implementation Committee is submitting progress reports three times a day.
At the same press conference, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani stated that there has been no increase in petroleum product prices over the past three weeks, and the government has allocated Rs 129 billion to prevent price hikes.
Bilal Azhar highlighted that the Prime Minister has taken steps from day one to ensure relief for the public, and the uninterrupted supply of petroleum products continues across the country. He also announced that a subsidy of Rs 100 per liter will be provided for motorcycles, along with a subsidy package for public transport and goods transport.
