ISLAMABAD: Director General ISPR, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has said that the decision regarding the Gaza peacekeeping force will be taken by the government and parliament.
According to ARY News, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, while addressing a press conference in Peshawar, stated that the decision on the Gaza peacekeeping force rests with the government and parliament.
He emphasised that Pakistan is independent in making its policies and stands ready to protect its borders and people.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif further said that the government has the authority to decide on the imposition of governor’s rule. He added that the army does not wish to be involved in politics and should be kept away from it.
He also remarked that the situation in Afghanistan is irrelevant, and the elimination of terrorism remains a top priority. There will never be negotiations with terrorists, he asserted. Pakistan’s response to the Afghan Taliban was immediate and effective, achieving the desired results.
DG ISPR added that drug smugglers in Afghanistan are interfering in Afghan politics, and large-scale drug smuggling into Pakistan continues from there.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif stated that intelligence-based operations are continuing successfully in Tirah and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A total of 1,667 terrorists have been killed in operations against Fitna al-Kharij. However, political criminals and terrorist groups remain obstacles to ending crime and smuggling in the country.
