Technology giant Google has released its latest list of the most searched topics in Pakistan for the year 2025. This list comprises seven main categories: sports, technology, local news, recipes, guides, and TV content. The rankings are based on trends derived from billions of searches conducted throughout the year.

Cricket remained the top trending topic among Pakistani users. The most searched match was “Pakistan vs. South Africa,” with other notable searches including the PSL, Asia Cup, Pak-India match, Pak-New Zealand, India-England, Pak-West Indies, and the ICC Champions Trophy.

In the realm of athletes, Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma topped the list of most searched players. Notable Pakistani cricketers that featured in the list include Hassan Nawaz, Irfan Khan Niazi, Sahibzada Farhan, Muhammad Abbas, Saim Ayub, Yasir Khan, Kisht Ali, Saif Hassan, and Abdul Samad.

Local news searches highlighted topics such as the Karachi floods, updates on Iran, the situation of the Chenab River, matriculation exam results, the Prime Minister’s laptop scheme, and fluctuations in gold prices.

In the technology category, “Google Gemini” garnered the most searches. Other popular searches included Tamasha, DeepSec, MyCo, On4T, Google AI Studio, Cloud, iPhone 17, Grok, and NFTs.

Among recipes, techniques for making sandwiches were the most popular. Searches for food fusion, quinoa dishes, flour and mutton recipes, desserts, tofu dishes, soups, and easy home recipes also featured prominently.

In terms of guidelines and “how-to” searches, the most frequently searched method was for checking the Karachi e-challan. Other continuously searched topics included Instagram messaging issues, car insurance, investing in cryptocurrency and the stock market, credit card applications, how to print from apps, creating Jabali-style photos, and uploading blogs.
