ISLAMABAD: Goods transporters announce to end strike after successful negotiations with the Punjab government, goods transporters announced end to strike in Punjab.

After the negotiations, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formed a high-level committee to resolve the problems of transporters. The committee will be headed by Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, while representatives of transporters have also been included in it. The first meeting of the committee will be held today in the presence of Maryam Aurangzeb and transporter representatives.

Maryam Aurangzeb said that the problems will be resolved through understanding. The government aims to protect human life and provide better conditions for citizens. It should be remembered that on December 8, the Pakistan Transport United Action Committee had called for a strike across Punjab, including Lahore, against the traffic ordinance.

The transporters’ strike continued in Punjab from late night to noon on December 8, during which public transport was closed, goods transport, mini Mazda, loaders, and rickshaws were also included in the strike. Intra-city, inter-district, and inter-provincial transport were closed. The Pakistan Transport United Action Committee ended the wheel jam strike in Punjab after the suspension of the implementation of the traffic ordinance.

In this regard, Sher Ali Chaudhry, President of the Pakistan Mini Mazda Association, said that a notification should be issued to cancel the ordinance; otherwise, the strike will continue.
