Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a new discovery of oil and gas from the Nishpa block located in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to an OGDCL spokesperson, the Bragzai X-1 well in the Nishpa block has produced 225 barrels of oil per day and 1 million cubic feet of gas per day.
The spokesperson said that the drilling of the Bragzai X-1 well was started on December 30, 2024 and the well was drilled to a total depth of 5,170 meters. During the drilling, traces of oil and gas had already come to light at the drill stem test stage in various ground formations.
According to OGDCL, this new discovery will not only help meet the country’s energy needs but will also increase hydrocarbon reserves.
