PESHAWAR: During the hearing of a high-profile gold smuggling case through the borders, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police prosecution team has said that a fair trial has commenced following a comprehensive investigation.
The case is being tried in the Peshawar Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). On Thursday, the ATC judge Muhammad Iqbal Khan heard the case, and the investigation officer of the case also appeared before the court, and his initial statement was also recorded on the occasion.
According to the prosecution, a huge catch of gold was seized by the police in Khyber district, in which two police personnel were also reportedly involved, and they are still at large.
The court summoned the investigation for the coming hearing and adjourned it till October 11.
Prosecution said that 6kilogram of gold was recovered from the accused, which was being smuggled to Afghanistan through the Torkham border and reportedly used in the financial support of militants.
The Prosecution said that the testimonials of the police investigation officers were also being recorded.
