ISLAMABAD: The German Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Ina Lepel, met at the Prime Minister’s office with Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, discussing the ways of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, skill development, and technical training.
The ambassador informed that the German authorities are intending to increase the number of Pakistani students in Germany very markedly. At present, she said, there are around 6,000 students from Pakistan in Germany but the plan is to add 10,000 more in the coming years.
Furthermore, the ambassador revealed that Germany was very keen on the interaction between the two nations, especially in the educational and training areas of the technical sector and the vocational and professional, including the interchange of academics and professionals.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, while delivering his speech to the ambassador, outlined the goals, past achievements, current initiatives, and future projections of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program. He further mentioned that the youth are the main beneficiaries of the program, which provides them with education, skills training, job placement, and even leadership development. Moreover, he pointed out that the National Youth Council has played a key role in formulating the youth policy.
The two delegations also discussed the “Green Youth Movement”, which is a significant program under the Prime Minister’s Youth initiative to equip the youth to participate in activities like environmental conservation, climate change fight, and adoption of eco-friendly practices.
Ambassador Lepel asserted the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, especially its youth empowerment, skills improvement and employment generation components, as he praised it. The meeting ended with an agreement of both sides to continue co-operation in the fields of education, vocational training, skills development, and youth exchange programs.
The mentioned events have not only made access for Pakistani students to higher education in Germany easier but also made the relationship between the two countries stronger.
