Google has started introducing the new Gemini AI assistant in place of Google Assistant in its various apps and maps services.
According to a report by Android Authority, Gemini has been included in the new beta version of Google Maps. Now, when the user clicks on the microphone icon in the upper right corner of the navigation interface, Gemini responds instead of Google Assistant. Initially, the microphone icon remains in the traditional colour of Google Assistant, but when clicked, Gemini’s distinctive glowing spark icon appears. According to the report, Gemini can now perform navigation features that were not previously possible in Google Assistant.
For example, if the user instructs Gemini to avoid toll routes, it will automatically change the route. Apart from navigation, Gemini also provides information such as weather. This feature is not currently available to all users, but it is expected to be introduced globally in the coming days.
