ABBOTTABAD: A famous tourist destination of the district Abbottabad, Galyat has received a second spell of snowfall, attracting a large number of tourists from parts of the country.
According to locals, Galyat Valley received a fresh spell of snowfall on Sunday, which has also increased the cold in the area, while a large number of nature lovers have flocked to the tourist destinations in Abbottabad to witness the snowfall.
According to the director general of Galyat Development Authority, Mr Sharukh Ali, heavy machinery has been dispatched to the snowbound areas to clear the closed roads and ensure smooth traffic on the roads.
He said that Tourism Police and the GDA staff were present in the field to facilitate the tourists, and they enjoyed their vacations in the valley without inconvenience.
DG GDA also advised tourists coming to the area to use snow chains around their car tyres while travelling to Galyat for smooth and safe travel.
MET department forecasts snowfall in KP, cold, dry weather to persist
The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasted cold and dry weather in most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with snowfall expected over the mountains during the evening and night.
According to the Met department, cold and dry weather is likely to prevail over most districts of the province, while, very cold in hilly areas.
Fog in patches may develop over Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, DI Khan, and the surrounding areas during evening/night.
However, rain or snowfall over the mountains may occur in Kalam, Swat, Dir, Kohistan, and surrounding areas in the evening and night.
The temperature forecast indicates that the minimum temperature in Chitral is expected to be 1 °C, Dir is expected to be -2 °C, and Malam Jabba is -2 °C. In the plains, temperatures are expected to drop to 8 °C in Peshawar, 7 °C in Bannu, 6 °C in Dera Ismail Khan, and 3 °C in Abbottabad.
