US President Donald Trump made a sarcastic and controversial statement about French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife during a luncheon, after which the matter came into the news.
According to media, he took a sarcastic approach towards Macron’s wife, Brigitte Macron, and said that Brigitte treats Macron badly. Trump criticized NATO allies for not supporting the war against Iran and said that he had asked France for help.
Trump also referred to an old video in his statement, which apparently showed Brigitte Macron pushing Macron, but the French president has already rejected this impression and called it a disinformation campaign.
The US president added that he had requested France to send ships to help in the Gulf region, but Macron talked about cooperation after the war, which I rejected. On this occasion, Trump also severely criticized NATO, calling it a paper tiger and saying that if there was a major war, NATO would not support it.
On the other hand, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also indicated that the US may re-evaluate its relations with NATO after the war against Iran.
