The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination and Roche Pakistan signed an agreement to facilitate the provision of cancer treatment to patients residing in federally administered areas.

The Federal Minister announced that Roche Pakistan will provide free medicines for three major types of cancer under a new agreement.

The programme will benefit patients from Islamabad, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Under the arrangement, the Government of Pakistan will contribute Rs1 million per patient, while Roche will cover the remaining Rs9 million.

He noted that the initiative will be implemented through a joint partnership between the Government of Pakistan and the multinational pharmaceutical company Roche.

Syed Mustafa Kamal stated that the agreement will be valid for five years, during which thousands of cancer patients are expected to receive support.

The programme will initially be launched at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, with plans to expand to other regions based on its success.

Under public-private partnership, 741 patients to benefit in first phase on first-come, first-served basis.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to life-saving treatments and ensuring equitable healthcare services for all citizens, particularly those from underserved regions.
