ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that yesterday was a very sad and depressing day for all of Pakistan. The entire nation shares in the grief of the families of the martyrs and prays for them.
Speaking to the media at Safe City Islamabad, he noted that the recent incident has shaken the entire country and saddened every citizen.
The Interior Minister mentioned that immediately after the blast, all law enforcement agencies were mobilized, and joint operations were conducted.
He reported that our agencies, particularly the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, took effective action in Peshawar and Nowshera, resulting in the arrest of four individuals involved in the incident.
Naqvi added that during the operations in Peshawar and Nowshera following the blast, one security official was martyred. He emphasized that all agencies worked collaboratively to target the terrorist network.
According to the Interior Minister, the investigation has determined that ISIS is behind this blast, which originated from Afghanistan. The suicide bomber received training in Afghanistan, and these elements operate for those who offer the highest financial rewards.
He reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding stance that Afghanistan has been a source of terrorism directed at Pakistan.
Naqvi revealed that ISIS receives external financial support and is funded in U.S. dollars. He explained that previously, terrorists received about five hundred dollars for such operations, but this amount has now increased to fifteen hundred dollars. He alleged that India is providing financial support to ISIS.
The Interior Minister cautioned that if the world remains silent today, tomorrow this threat could extend to other nations. Discussing the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), he pointed out that it has been recognized as a terrorist organization not only by Pakistan but also by the global community. He also noted that videos of BLA operations have been showcased by Indian media.
Naqvi appealed to the public to fully cooperate with security agencies, stating that despite the occurrence of one explosion, institutions managed to prevent major damage by thwarting 99 potential attacks.
