A significant development has come to light in the major financial scandal of 40 billion rupees in Upper Kohistan, as the four accused named in the case have filed applications in the accountability court for a plea bargain with the National Accountability Bureau.
According to NAB sources, those who filed applications for a plea bargain include the head clerk of the C&W department, Qaiser, and his two accomplices, including Qaiser’s wife and one other whose identity was not disclosed.
Sources say that the accused have taken a stand in their applications that they are ready to plea bargain with NAB and return the money owed to them. NAB sources further say that the money and assets presented by the accused will be examined, after which the plea bargain will be finalized with the approval of the NAB Chairman. According to NAB, accused Qaiser is one of the central figures in this scandal who, in collusion with other accused, withdrew Rs40 billion in the name of fictitious development schemes of Upper Kohistan. According to sources, these schemes practically do not exist while the funds have been withdrawn in full. Qaiser created movable and immovable assets worth billions of rupees in the name of himself, his wife and other relatives. Now he has shown his willingness to plea bargain with other persons. According to sources, after completing the investigation in this regard, NAB will proceed with the plea bargain process with the approval of the NAB Chairman.
