ROME: The international community has recognized the importance of Pakistan’s efforts in making the historic ceasefire between the US and Iran. Paolo Gentiloni, a former Italian Prime Minister and European Commissioner, has highly praised Pakistan’s initiative, terming the country worthy of the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize for its role in the peace process.

In an X post, Paolo Gentiloni congratulated Pakistan for successfully brokering the peace deal. “In today’s world scenario, maybe Pakistan is the real deserving winner of the Nobel Peace Prize due to its relentless efforts for peace and stability,” Gentiloni said.

Apart from that, some regional and international nations have also welcomed the news of the ceasefire. Some of these nations include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, and Jordan. These nations have congratulated the nations that have entered into this peace agreement.

The spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked Pakistan for the efforts it put into the peace deal in the Middle East. China had been trying for a long time to ensure that there was sustainable peace in the region. The British Prime Minister has termed the ceasefire a crucial move to achieve comprehensive peace. Macron appreciated the ceasefire and at the same time expressed his worries about the situation in Lebanon.

On her part, Germany’s Chancellor also appreciated Pakistan for its contribution towards signing the ceasefire agreement while Turkey stated their full support for the peace talks conducted in Islamabad. Similarly, Australia, Egypt, and Malaysia also expressed their appreciation regarding the ceasefire.

As for Russia, it hoped that the US and Iran will be able to conduct direct communications towards holding talks in relation to the ceasefire. Also, Russia stated that the ceasefire could enable the United States to talk more on Ukraine.

Furthermore, United Nations Secretary General António Guterres, as well as Pope Leo, the spiritual head of the Catholic Church, also appreciated the ceasefire, stating that this could be a stepping stone towards creating more peace.

Given the positive response by many countries regarding Pakistan’s diplomatic effort, the country’s success in bringing two of the most influential nations of the world into peace can be termed as a major accomplishment at an international level.
