TEHRAN: Dr. Kamal Kharrazi, the former Iranian Foreign Minister and one of the country’s most prominent diplomats has tragically passed away after succumbing to injuries sustained in a brutal attack carried out by the United States and Israel. Kharrazi suffered severe injuries when the US and Israel military forces attacked his Tehran residence which resulted in his wife’s martyrdom. He was taken to the hospital after sustaining injuries which left him in a coma until his death.

Iranian sources have confirmed the death of Dr. Kharrazi who held high status in Iran’s diplomatic and educational sectors. His assassination has left a significant void which marks the end of an active diplomatic period that defined Iran’s foreign relations until his death.

Kharrazi, worked as a senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Mujtaba Hosseini Khamenei after working as an advisor to the previous Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei. The international community accepted him as a key architect who developed Iran’s foreign relations during the period from 1997 to 2005 when Kharrazi worked as the country’s foreign minister under President Mohammad Khatami.

Kharrazi worked as the head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, which functioned as an advisory body providing foreign policy advice to Iran’s top leadership He became one of Iran’s most important diplomats because of his diplomatic expertise and his abilities to predict future events.

According to reports, Kharrazi was involved in overseeing Iran’s relations with Pakistan, and his targeted assassination seems to be an attempt to sabotage Iran’s diplomatic efforts. A U.S. newspaper reports that the attack on Kharrazi was a deliberate move to sabotage his diplomatic efforts, especially in terms of his country’s relations with Pakistan.

Aside from his diplomatic efforts, Dr. Kharrazi was also a scholar who wrote numerous books on diplomacy. Dr. Kharrazi’s contributions to both diplomacy and education in Iran are considered extraordinary, and his death has been mourned by all in Iran.
