ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) foreign funding case has once again come under focus after allegations emerged that $2.1 million in foreign funds remain unaccounted for, according to official proceedings related to the case.

Sources familiar with the matter say the unaccounted amount was received from foreign sources, raising questions over compliance with Pakistan’s election and political finance laws. The issue surfaced during scrutiny of PTI’s financial records as part of the long-running foreign funding case.

Authorities have maintained that political parties are bound to disclose complete details of funding sources and expenditures, particularly funds originating from abroad. Failure to do so may constitute violations under relevant laws.

PTI, on various occasions, has denied any wrongdoing and termed the case politically motivated. The matter remains under legal consideration, with further proceedings expected to determine responsibility and potential consequences.
