PESHAWAR: Major motorways, including the Peshawar-Islamabad M1 from Peshawar to Rashakai, remain closed due to dense fog, according to the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP).
Due to dense fog affecting visibility, several critical sections of the national motorways have been closed, disrupting traffic across multiple regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
The M-1 motorway is currently closed from Peshawar to Rashkai, while the M-3 reopened from Faizpur to Darkhana Interchange.
Similarly, the M-4 is closed from Pindi Bhattian to Sher Shah, and the M-5 remains blocked from Rohri to Sher Shah Multan. Additionally, the M-14 is inaccessible from Kot Beilian to Isa Khel.
Authorities have urged travelers to avoid these routes until conditions improve, as the fog significantly reduces visibility and creates hazardous driving conditions.
Motorists are advised to stay informed about traffic conditions and exercise extreme caution when traveling on alternative routes.
Motorway Police Spokesperson emphasized the importance of cautious driving during foggy conditions, advising citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy hours, complete journeys during daylight and reach destinations before fog sets in, use fog lights in vehicles, refrain from speeding, and maintain extra distance from the next vehicle.
National Highways and Motorway Police advised the public to keep a greater distance between vehicles and always take advice from the helpline 130 before starting the journey to obtain updated traffic and weather information.
