PESHAWAR: The prices of flour per 20-kilogram bag slashed up to 200 rupees in Peshawar after the resumption of supply from Punjab province.

Irfan Khan, a local dealer, said that earlier the prices of a 20 Kilogram bag had reached 2400. However, in the last two days, the prices decreased gradually, and now the new prices in the market are Rs 2200. He said that whenever the supply from Punjab gets stopped, the price automatically starts to increase, and after the resumption of wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa mills, the prices decreased. He said that if the government keeps close watch over hoarders and settles the matter with Punjab, then there would be no shortage of flour in the market, but unfortunately, some profiteers also take advantage of the artificial shortage of flour and other edible items.

After a continuous increase in the prices of flour in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur vowed to knock on the door of the Supreme Court against the Punjab government for hindering the supply of wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, later the Punjab government ensured to remove hurdles in the supply of wheat and flour from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
