Emirates Civil Aviation Authority announced that foreign flights have been suspended at Dubai Airport and Al Maktoum Airport amid Middle East crises.
According to the flight monitoring website, Dubai airlines have also started limiting operations once again in the current situation. On the other hand, the fire caused by a drone attack in the Shah Gas Field in Abu Dhabi has been brought under control.
The Abu Dhabi government said that authorities and rescue teams have brought the fire under control, and field activities will remain suspended until the damage is assessed.
Immediately after the incident, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority suspended all international flights landing at Dubai International and Al Maktoum Airports. More than 300 flights were affected by the decision.
Although the fire has been brought under control, operations at Dubai Airport are still limited. Emirates and Flydubai have made major changes to their schedules and are operating only on key routes.
Emirates has announced special concessions for affected passengers, under which they can change their flight dates without any additional charges or get a full refund. Abu Dhabi’s Shah Gas Field, a joint venture between ADNOC and Occidental, was also hit by a drone attack, causing damage to facilities.
The fire has been extinguished, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, but gas production and all activities at the field have been suspended as part of security protocols. Expert teams are assessing the damage to infrastructure.
Authorities have confirmed that there were no casualties in the gas field incident, but a civilian was injured by missile debris in another area of Abu Dhabi. In light of the recent events, the UAE has put the entire country on high security alert.
A 60-nautical-mile radius of Emirati airspace was temporarily closed to non-military flights. The Emirati Ministry of Defense has described the attacks as a major conspiracy against regional stability and said it is fully prepared to deal with any threat.
