The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Parliamentary leader, Ahmad Karim Kundi, has slammed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for imposing Rs 10,000 per night charges on patients visiting the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), Peshawar.

The PPP leader made these remarks while talking to the media in Peshawar on Wednesday.  He said treatment is the right of the people, charges of Rs 10,000 per night at Lady Reading Hospital are tantamount to snatching treatment from the mouths of the poor, Ahmed Kundi

The PPP leader expressed serious reservations over the imposition of charges of Rs 10,000 per night under IBPP at Lady Reading Hospital-MTI Peshawar, and termed it as an attack on the right to treatment of the poor people.

He said that this decision of the hospital administration and the Board of Governors was not only incomprehensible but unfair, and also a conspiracy to deprive the poor people of the province of basic treatment facilities.
Ahmed Kundi said, “This move is proof that the provincial government is completely unaware of the problems of the people and has made even a sacred sector like health a means of earning profit.”
He said that this decision had been taken to benefit a specific class instead of the public interest, which is an attempt to distribute health facilities on a class basis. This has openly exposed the anti-people nature of government policies.
