RAWALPINDI : Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including PTI founder Imran Khan’s sisters, have been booked in a case related to the protest outside Adiala Jail on Tuesday night.
The case has been registered at Saddar Beroni Police Station in Rawalpindi under the provisions of Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and other sections related to attempted murder and conspiracy, etc.
The FIR was registered against Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, Qasim Khan, PTI Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja, Advocate Tabish, Semabia Tahir, Naeem Haider Panjota, ex-MPA Taimoor Masood, MPA Tanveer Aslam, MPA Bismah Riaz, Tayyaba Raja, and 300-400 unknown individuals.
According to the FIR, PTI leadership gave a sit-in protest on meeting day with the former prime minister in front of the Shaigham factory at Adiala Road. The leadership gathered and instigated the mob into anti-establishment and government slogans.
The mob had reached around 400 individuals who went aggressive at around 02:30 am on December 17, it added.
“The moment the mob became aggressive, the Police started action and unleashed water cannon. During the action, 14 x protestors entered into a clash with police, who were immediately arrested, and the remaining managed to escape,” the FIR writes.
The police produced the 14 accused arrested last night before the court.
The court granted a 3-day physical remand of the 14 accused and handed them over to the police.
The case was heard by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah on Wednesday evening.
