PESHAWAR (Ijaz Afridi): The Finance Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued guidelines to all attached departments, formations, and sub-offices regarding the use of petroleum products in light of the current global context. It is essential to adopt precautionary and economical measures to ensure the smooth functioning of government affairs in the province.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Department issued a notification to all offices to ensure the prudent and economical use of petroleum products. The use of these products should be limited to essential government duties, emergency response activities, and critical field operations.
Additionally, out-of-station visits, unnecessary inspections, and non-essential official travel should be restricted immediately. Official vehicles are to be used solely for official purposes. Wherever possible, vehicle pooling should be encouraged to avoid unnecessary use of multiple vehicles for the same official activity.
All internal and external meetings, as well as coordination meetings, should be conducted through virtual platforms whenever feasible to minimize unnecessary movement and reduce petroleum consumption.
The petroleum allotment and vehicle usage must be properly monitored and recorded by the relevant administrative offices. Heads of attached departments and offices should help officers and staff understand how to use government resources efficiently, given the current situation.
The preparation of the current budget and the budget for the next financial year is the Finance Department’s top priority. The above measures mustn’t disrupt the budget cycle or the budget preparation process.
Strict implementation of these instructions is required, and they must be communicated to all sub-offices and field formations under your administrative control.
