ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir paid a visit to the National Police Academy (NPA) in Islamabad, where he appreciated the sacrifices of the police force and assured full support from the Pakistan Army.
On his arrival at the National Police Academy, the Field Marshal was accorded a grand welcome and was presented with a guard of honour by a smart contingent of police.
At the start of his visit, he laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered Fateha to the police personnel who sacrificed their lives for the country. The Federal Interior Minister and the Minister of State for Interior were also present on the occasion.
The Field Marshal was given a detailed briefing on the training standards of the Academy and especially the SHIELD program. He was apprised of the modern training efforts of the police and the steps taken to address the challenges faced. The Field Marshal met the cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) in training and appreciated their courage.
He termed the police as the “first line of defence” of the state on the internal security front. He said that the protection of life, property, and honour of citizens is the primary responsibility and a sacred trust of the police.
While talking to senior officers, he stressed close cooperation and coordination between the armed forces and the police. It is the need of the hour to develop the policing system on modern lines to increase public confidence.
“The role of the police against terrorism and internal security challenges is unforgettable, and the Pak Armed Forces stand by the police at every step.” Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir remarked.
The police leadership thanked the Field Marshal for his visit and reiterated their commitment to enhancing professional skills and departmental reforms. The visit symbolized the strong ties between the two institutions and the shared goal of upholding the rule of law in the country.
