Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir met Egyptian Minister of Defence General Abdul Majeed Saqr and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fathi.

Field Marshal Asim Munir held separate meetings with the Egyptian Minister of Defence and Defence Production General Abdul Majeed Saqr and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fathi. According to the ISPR, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation, and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed in detail during the meetings. On this occasion, Field Marshal Asim Munir said that Egypt is a brotherly country and close cooperation between the two countries will not only benefit the people of both nations but will also be helpful in establishing peace and stability in the region.

During the visit, the Field Marshal was presented with a guard of honour upon his arrival at the Ministry of Defence. They laid flowers and recited Fateha at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and former Egyptian President Muhammad Anwar Sadat. He also met with Sheikh Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif discussed various challenges facing the Islamic world, especially extremism and negative interpretations of religion.

According to an ISPR statement, on this occasion, Sheikh Al-Azhar stressed the need to promote the teachings of unity, tolerance, and moderation of the Muslim Ummah. Field Marshal Asim Munir said that Islam is a religion of peace, respect for humanity, and moderation, and there is an urgent need for collective and coordinated efforts to eliminate its misinterpretations and extremist thinking. He added that Pakistan will always play its role to highlight the true message of Islam, which is peace, tolerance, and brotherhood.

Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is currently on an official visit to Egypt. The visit aims to further promote military cooperation and defence partnership between Pakistan and Egypt.
