Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has arrived in Libya for an official visit.
During his time there, he met with the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, as well as the Deputy Chief of the Army, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a well-dressed contingent from the Libyan Armed Forces presented a guard of honour upon Field Marshal Munir’s arrival. In his meeting with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, they discussed issues of mutual interest, the regional security situation, and strategies to enhance bilateral defence and military cooperation.
Both leaders emphasised the importance of collaboration in areas such as training, capacity building, and counterterrorism. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Libya. In response, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and expressed a strong desire to expand defence cooperation between their two countries.
