ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet has approved the Visa Clearance System upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Interior. The cabinet meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday.

An official announcement has stated that the newly sanctioned Visa Clearance System is intended to set up a clear and safe method for the nationals of Pakistan who want to get visas for traveling abroad. The system is proposing to facilitate and simplify the visa application process for the citizens of Pakistan.

The Cabinet also granted clearance to the National Cannabis Control and Regulatory Policy 2025, which is aimed at introducing the use of plant-based cannabis in the pharmaceutical and textile industries in Pakistan. The industry will expect the policy to take the form of nurturing these sectors.

Moreover, the Government confirmed the actions that were taken in the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting of December 18, 2025.

The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured the government’s commitment to the creation of political harmony and he emphasized that the government was still willing to talk with all the political groups. Besides, he cautioned that if such an action was executed under the pretext of talks, it would be met with a strict no-tolerance policy.
