ISLAMABAD: Amid growing fears of potential airstrikes from Pakistan, at least four Taliban officials fled to Ghor province on March 14, using four helicopters, as reported by Aamaj News from Afghanistan.
According to multiple sources in Ghor, the Taliban officials concealed three of the helicopters upon their arrival, fearing Pakistani attacks. However, one helicopter remains visible at Ghor airport, as shown in images obtained by Aamaj News.
This evacuation follows similar movements in which Taliban officials previously fled to Bamyan and Daikundi provinces using helicopters due to security concerns. Despite the high-profile nature of these incidents, the Taliban has yet to issue any formal statement regarding the evacuations.
The images included in the report confirm the presence of the helicopter at Ghor airport, highlighting the ongoing safety concerns for Taliban officials. These evacuations underscore the rising tensions and the threat of airstrikes in the region, raising many questions about the Taliban’s next steps.
