The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU)’s released its initial report on the November 24 terrorist attack on the Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters, revealing important details about the planning of the attack, the explosives used and the evidence found at the scene.
According to the BDU report, 20 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack, which were installed in three suicide jackets. The report states that these jackets were Russian and American-made, in which the explosives were divided into two parts, front and back, to create more destruction. According to the report, the fragments of the suicide jackets show that the blast had the potential to cause damage up to 30 meters. The BDU says that the attack was completely suicidal in nature and no trace of remote control was found.
Evidence found at the scene said that eight grenade fragments, two mm ball bearings, two feet long Prima cord, and two feet of wire cut in the middle. The report also states that the suicide jackets were made with great skill, which were intended to cause maximum loss of life and property. However, the timely response of the security forces played a significant role in preventing a major tragedy.
As a result of the attack, three FC soldiers were martyred and five soldiers were injured, while eight civilians were also injured. Authorities said the attack was carried out as part of a well-planned operation, and the terrorists used heavy explosives and modern suicide vests to target the FC headquarters. Further investigations into the incident are underway, while security agencies are actively trying to reach the mastermind and facilitators of the attack.
