Pakistan foils cross border smuggling bid

On November 9, Security forces successfully intercepted a major drug smuggling attempt near the Pakistan-Iran border, recovering a significant consignment of narcotics and neutralizing a key smuggler during an exchange of fire.

Official sources report that the operation was conducted by a Special Operations Team (SOT) from the 137 Wing, based on intelligence gathered from previous investigations into drug routes revealed by a deceased trafficker, Abdul Khalique Wadoo, who was a resident of Shamesar, Iran.

The ambush was part of a broader counter-narcotics campaign initiated on November 4, 2025, and it took place late on the night of November 8 near the Basatang Post, on the route to the Zamuran Range. Around 11:30 PM, security personnel intercepted a vehicle transporting narcotics.

During the ensuing exchange of fire, a trafficker identified as Muhammad Adil, a resident of Kalag, Panjgur, was neutralized. The intercepted vehicle was reportedly carrying drugs destined for the Kasoi Headquarters, which is managed by Abid alias Chakkar and Asim alias Rehan in Zamuran.

The operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 400 kilograms of opium, one white double-cabin vehicle, and one submachine gun (SMG).

Investigations revealed that the drug consignment was orchestrated by Sanaullah, a resident of Paroom, who is currently based in Shamesar, Iran. His brother, Bashir, identified as a local area commander, is also reportedly residing in Iran.

Security officials have stated that further operations are underway to dismantle the broader smuggling network operating along the Pakistan-Iran border.
