ISLAMABAD: The head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has said that he is ready once again to be a mediator in the conflict, based on the fact that he has worked in the same direction in the past, and has no problem repeating the same process.
At a media conference held at the Convention Centre in Islamabad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman asserted that a truce had already been made between the two countries, so now along with the verbal truce, a “verbal ceasefire” was required as well. “No one from either side, be it the users of social media or the general public, should provoke the other, and rather all should concentrate on cooling the already heated up tempers,” he said.
The JUI-F chief informed that he had already started speaking to Afghan rulers whom he claimed were actually determined to settle the matter through communication and goodwill.
On the other hand, Fazlur Rehman was commenting on the remarks made by Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi concerning Kashmir, and he was urging the country to practice the virtue of patience, saying, “Pakistan should not create a fuss over Afghanistan’s statements but instead reflect on its own part and changing policies regarding Kashmir issue.”

He wanted to know whether Pakistan was genuinely attempting to get Kashmir settled according to UN resolutions, and what tangible advancement had been made in that connection.
