ISLAMABAD: Ex-members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) met with Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to discuss the means of strengthening national unity and reducing political confrontations in the country.
In the meeting, Chaudhry Shujaat pointed out that national interest should be placed above everything else and added that the greatest national benefit comes only when all the political parties join hands.
Information from the meeting indicates that convincing political leaders needs face-to-face interaction instead of just sending delegations and names Shah Mahmood Qureshi as a facilitator in this respect.
Besides that, the confrontation strategies of PTI leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi were criticized. In a statement, senior leader Chaudhry Fawad mentioned that Afridi lacks a proper roadmap and is only concentrating on protests on the streets, thereby, disregarding other areas of work.
The delegation advised the political leaders to refrain from participating in confrontations further and also to understand the significance of dialogue and consensus-building as the most effective ways of dealing with issues.
After the meeting, Chaudhry Shujaat and ex-PTI members came to a conclusion that political feuds should be ended, and national stability and unity, as the most urgent issues, should be promoted. They also stressed that dialogue and reconciliation are the main ways of resolving disputes.
