Following the recent increase in petrol and diesel prices, the Transporters Association, Transport Owners and other organizations have increased inter-provincial and intra-provincial passenger fares.
Fares to various cities from Lahore have also been increased, including Lahore to Faisalabad fare increased from Rs 1,350 to Rs 2,350, Lahore to Murree from Rs 3,300 to Rs 4,500. Lahore to Multan has been increased from Rs 2,800 to Rs 3,700, Lahore to Peshawar from Rs 3,500 to Rs 4,600.
Similarly, Lahore to Karachi has been increased from Rs 8,600 to Rs 12,000 and Lahore to Sargodha from Rs 1,550 to Rs 2,550. Transporters have made this increase without the prior approval of the Punjab government, which is being expressed by passengers and anger.
The organizations say that the increase in fares was inevitable due to the rising prices of petrol and diesel so that transport services can continue.
