China accuses Salman Khan’s upcoming film of distorting history

China has accused Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s upcoming film Battle of Galwan of misrepresenting historical facts.

As per foreign media, the first look of the movie was out on December 27 to celebrate Salman Khan’s birthday and was also posted by the star on his verified Instagram account.

The teaser was slammed by China’s state-operated media outlet Global Times, which claimed that the parts depicted in the film were far from the truth. The article stated that, although sometimes movies and TV shows might overstate the narratives, nevertheless, it should never be the case that sensitive matters such as the history of the conflict or the territory of another nation get distorted.

The soldier and actor Salman Khan is depicted in the film as the hero of the Indian side during the Galwan Valley conflict between India and China in the year 2020. The incident had caused an escalation of the already existing tension on the Line of Actual Control between the two countries, which was eventually followed by changes in military strategies and the implementation of security measures.

The Battle of Galwan is scheduled to be released on April 17, 2026, but the film has already created a stir in the Indian and Chinese media, and that too, without even being released yet.
