ISLAMABAD: Light rain is expected to enter Pakistan from October 4, which will bring the stalled heatwave to an end and bring us back into the early stages of prewinter, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Abdul Aziz, the Director of the Met Office Lahore, stated that light rains will occur across most parts of the country from October 4 until October 7. It could also take temperatures down from the 37°C mark to 30°C.

“This will initiate the prewinter rains and cooler weather will begin to settle in by the last week of October,” Aziz said.

Similarly, the experts have predicted that the winter of 2025–26 will be the coldest and longest we’ve witnessed in decades as a result of the developing La Niña climate phenomenon.

According to meteorological reports, the equatorial Pacific Ocean is coming under pressure due to rapid declines in sea surface temperatures.

Expect this contact to initiate changes in jet streams and atmospheric pressure patterns for a change in climate, weather and chances of early snow, prolonged colder weather, and greater retention of snow during winter in various parts of the globe.

We should not dismiss the potential impacts of La Niña as experts have cautioned that despite La Niña being on the moderate side, a substantial warming of 3°C occurred in our atmosphere.
