ISLAMABAD: Executive director Pakistan Institute Of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Dr Imran Sikandar said that co founder and Leader of Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi, was examined by a senior ophthalmologist, after he reported reduced vision in his right eye.
According to Executive Director PIMS Dr Imran Sikandar, Imran Khan complained of reduced eyesight in his right eye, following which a senior ophthalmologist from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), Islamabad, conducted a comprehensive eye examination at Adiala Jail.
The examination included slit-lamp evaluation, fundoscopy, measurement of intraocular pressure, relevant laboratory tests and optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the retina. Based on these findings, doctors diagnosed right central retinal vein occlusion and recommended treatment under regular hospital follow-up.
According to the report, Imran Khan was shifted to Pims late last week, where doctors planned an intravitreal anti-VEGF injection as part of the treatment. The procedure was explained to the patient in detail and carried out after obtaining informed consent.
The medical procedure was performed in the operation theatre under standard sterile protocols and continuous monitoring. It was completed successfully in approximately 20 minutes, during which the patient remained stable.
Following the procedure, Imran Khan was provided routine post-treatment care instructions and comprehensive follow-up documentation. Pims administration said his health condition would remain under close observation and further medical care would be provided if required.
