PESHAWAR: Former provincial minister and PTI MPA Dr. Amjad Ali has accused the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of issuing illegal notices, containing baseless allegations him and his family members.

Dr. Amjad Ali said in his statement that not only did NAB lack the authority, but also it was an outright invasion of privacy to obtain his personal and employment-related information or other files concerning government jobs for him and the 18 members of his family.

In addition, Dr. Ali said, “NAB’s intrusion was not only very uncalled-for but it also went against the law, and I will refute these allegations by all means.”

He asserted that the served notices were the tools used by the local administration to persecute him without any real cause and to tarnish his image.

Moreover, Dr. Ali said that the KP Assembly speaker had reacted to the issue by providing support and mediation and had asked the DG NAB to submit his comments on the issue. It is anticipated that the Speaker will hold NAB accountable for the alleged false charges that have been levelled against the ex-minister.

“I am the victim here, and what NAB is doing is entirely outside the law. I will resist and keep up my demand that there be an investigation into these groundless charges,” said Dr. Ali in conclusion.
