BRUSSELS: The European Union (EU) has requested Pakistan and Afghanistan to decrease their conflicts and return to dialogue amid rising concerns over violence in South Asia.
EU foreign policy Chief Kaja Kallas has raised concerns about increasing violent incidents that have been spreading throughout the area. She demanded that Afghanistan’s ruling authorities must take action against terrorist organizations while asserting that Afghan land must remain off-limits for attacks against other nations.
The appeal comes as diplomatic efforts intensify to ease the situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Turkey reached out to both nations to assist in resolving their current conflict. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan conducted distinct phone dialogues with Pakistan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister and Afghanistan’s foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
Meanwhile Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has made dedicated attempts to negotiate between the two bordering nations.
Diplomatic observers state that both regional and international participation will help stop further conflict while maintaining peace in the area.
