ABBOTTABAD: Hundreds of youth who passed the ETEA test for police constable in Abbottabad staged a strong protest against the delay in the recruitment process and demanded that the provincial government and the police department immediately complete the process based on merit.

The protesters said that they have passed all the stages and tough exams, but the provincial government is unnecessarily delaying the final recruitment process. The youth participating in the protest were holding banners and placards with demands like “Don’t play with our future” and “Start recruitment immediately”.

Speaking on the occasion, local leader Naseer Khan Jadoon expressed solidarity with the protesters and slammed the government. He said the extraordinary delay in police recruitment is unacceptable. These youths have passed the test with their hard work; now it is the government’s duty to immediately make them a part of the police department while respecting their merit.

The protesters made the following key demands to the government: all candidates who have passed the ETA test should be immediately joined. The recruitment process should be kept completely transparent and merit-based.

They demanded to stop wasting the time of the youth by making excuses of funds or administrative issues. The protesters warned that if the government did not immediately implement their demands, they would be forced to expand the scope of their protest. The youth said that in this era of unemployment, it is completely unfair for them to be on the streets despite passing the test.
