ISLAMABAD: Ikhtiyar Wali Khan, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator has delivered a warning, to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stating that the moment has arrived to treat the party “in the same manner the state handles anti-state elements.”
In a television interview Ikhtiyar Wali asserted that a deep connection exists between PTI, terrorists and drug syndicates in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He accused the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) of having demanded extortion money from PTI members.
He also asserted that KP has turned into a center for actions because of this supposed alliance. “From drug traffickers, to terrorists and politicians. They are all linked. Even certain cabinet members have family members whose vehicles are seized in drug investigations” he mentioned.
Ikhtiyar Wali condemned the KP government describing a breakdown of governance during the last 13 years. He claimed that ministries were “publicly sold” appointments were granted for payment and different drug enterprises functioned with prices.
“This is governance; it’s more like a private family business” he said, daring the KP government to identify even a single new university, school, college, road or bridge constructed in the past 13 years.
Regarding KP’s law-and-order circumstances he mentioned that conducting an operation, in the province is currently “the remaining choice.”
When questioned regarding the implementation of Governor’s Rule, in KP he admitted that the Constitution allows for this option but stated that the federal government acting as political officials does not favor it.
Ikhtiyar Wali harshly condemned KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, stating, “If his sole purpose in becoming CM is to close cases against his party then the law evidently applies double standards one for them and another, for everyone else.”
He stated that the supposed anti-state position of PTI can no longer be tolerated. “It is time to say enough,” he stated and asked the government to act decisively.
