COLOMBO: The Women’s team of England authentically conquered Sri Lanka through their total on ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup match with no doubt of an 89 runs victory in Colombo.
England batted first and made 253 runs losing 9 wickets in 50 overs, their allotted time. Nat Sciver-Brunt spearheaded the innings with a wonderful 117-run knock, being the strength of the innings and giving the bowlers a hard task to defend with the set total.
Tammy Beaumont (32) and Heather Knight (29) were the ones who, together with Sophia Dunkley (18) and Emma Lamb (13), made up the main scorer’s list at the end of innings.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, weakened the batting order which led to being all out for 164 runs and thus, losing the match quite far behind the target. Spinner Sophie Ecclestone from England proved to be the star of the day with her astonishing 4 wickets for 17 runs in the entire 10-over bowling.
