ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has allowed a decrease of 0.4812 rupees (48 paisa) per unit in the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for September 2025. The announcement of this alteration in the rate will be made in the electricity bills of consumers in November 2025.
The decision to reduce the charges was reached after a request from the Central Power Purchasing Agency (Guarantee) Limited (CPPA-G), which forwarded the monthly FCA calculation for the review, as per a official NEPRA notification. The sanctioned reduction is the zone free for everyone that is the consumers, including the K-Electric users and the government will pay the difference as a subsidy under the tariff rationalization framework.
Yet NEPRA has revealed that lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations, and prepaid meter users will not be the beneficiaries of this adjustment. The FCA is a variable that changes with the international fuel prices and the production cost of power bringing the consumers some relief when prices are falling.
Govt announces price hike in petroleum products
Earlier on 1 November, the federal government has decided to increase the prices of petrol and diesel for the next 15 days.
The Finance Ministry has revealed that petrol prices have been increased by Rs. 2.43 per liter and diesel prices have been increased by Rs. 3.02 per liter.
According to the official notification, the new prices are Rs. 265.45 per liter for petrol and Rs. 278.44 per liter for diesel. These price increments came into force from the very start of the day.
The authorities have advertised that these prices would be kept for the coming 15 days only, after which a look will be taken to decide if any new changes will be made.
