ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has reinstated the memberships of three previously suspended members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly after they submitted their annual financial statements.
According to a statement from the Election Commission, the reinstated members include Nazir Ahmed Abbasi, who represents PK-42 Abbottabad-1 from a general seat, and Zarshaid Khan, who was elected from PK-21 Mardan-1. Additionally, Syed Sonia Shah, a member elected from a reserved seat, has also had her membership reinstated upon submitting her financial statements.
It’s important to note that the Election Commission had initially suspended the memberships of 28 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly—comprising 24 men and 4 women—for failing to submit their annual statements on time. The statement further mentioned that 25 members still have not submitted their statements, meaning their memberships will remain suspended until further notice.
