ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has announced the operation of four special trains aiming to facilitate travellers during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holidays. These trains are intended to ease the travel burden and ensure the smooth movement of passengers during the festive season.
According to details, the first special Eid train will depart on March 16 from Lahore to Karachi. The second special train will leave on March 17 from Quetta to Rawalpindi.
Additionally, the third special train will leave Karachi on March 17 heading towards Peshawar, while the fourth special train will depart on March 18 from Karachi to Lahore.
This initiative is aimed at ensuring safe and efficient travel for passengers during the busy holiday season, providing a comfortable and convenient option for those heading home to celebrate Eid with their families.
Government announces public holidays for Eid ul Fitr
Earlier, the federal government on Sunday announced March 20 and 21 as public holidays for Eid ul Fitr.
According ot a notification issued by the cabinet division, Eid al-Fitr official holidays have been announced across the country on March 20 and 21.
It said Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved public holidays on March 20 and 21, 2026, in observance of Eid al-Fitr.
According to a notification, March 20 and Saturday, March 21 will be official holidays for Eid al-Fitr. The Eid al-Fitr holidays apply to all government offices operating on a five-day or six-day work week.
The Cabinet Division has also issued an official notification of public holidays on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
