PESHAWAR: Preperation for Eid-ul-Fitr have entered their final stages across the country and an unusual rush of buyers is being seen in the markets.
The early start of Eid holidays by the federal and provincial governments and the provision of an extra day have given the public the best opportunity to buy clothes, shoes and other essential items.
The commercial centers of all small and big cities, including the capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Peshawar, remain open till late at night where women and children are busy. In Peshawar’s Qissa Khawani Bazaar and Saddar, the demand for traditional slippers and suits with cliffs has increased, while women are busy at the stalls selling bangles and mehndi.
The administration has prepared a special traffic plan to control the rush and additional personnel have been deployed on major highways so that citizens do not face any problems while shopping. Shopkeepers say that this time the enthusiasm of the buyers is remarkable and it is hoped that this trend will continue till the night.
