ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reacted strongly to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi’s allegations, in which he not only rebuked the government employees but also made some controversial statements.

ECP is reportedly calling an emergency meeting at 11:30 AM on Thursday (today) to consider the issue in depth.

At a political rally in Havelian, Haripur, CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi, made some controversial comments which are said to have intentionally provoked government employees, and now there is a question whether this conduct might constitute an electoral law breach regulating political activities. Sources say that the meeting of the Election Commission will thoroughly examine the content of CM Afridi’s statements and decide on the appropriate course of action.

Speaking out during the political rally in Havelian, Haripur, CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi, targeted government employees with his controversial remarks that have sparked inquiries about a probable breach of election laws regarding political conduct.

Sources say that the Election Commission’s meeting will thoroughly examine the content of CM Afridi’s statements and decide on the appropriate course of ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌action.

ECP issues code of conduct for candidates in 13 by-election constituencies

Furthermore, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday issued a code of conduct for candidates in 13 by-election constituencies ahead of the poll.

According to a notification regarding the code of conduct for the 13 by-election scheduled in the coming few days across the country.

It said there will be a complete ban on announcements, use of the speaker, and rallies 48 hours before the polling in the limits of the constituency.

The notification also instructed that violation of the code would lead to two years in prison or a fine of Rs 100,000 for the respective candidate.

ECP also noted that the election campaign will end on the intervening night of November 21 and 22.

The By-elections will be held in the National Assembly constituencies: NA-18, NA-96, NA-104, NA-129, NA-143, and NA-185.

Similarly, the elections scheduled in Punjab Assembly constituencies PP-73, PP-87, PP-98, PP-115, PP-116, PP-203, PP-269

The Election Commission has declared rallies and processions prohibited in all constituencies at the scheduled time
