ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday summoned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, over a speech he delivered during a rally in Abbottabad’s Havelian yesterday. The KP CM allegedly threatened the government employees.

After a detailed meeting about the issue at the ECP office in Islamabad, the ECP issued a notice to the KP Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi, to personally appear before the ECP authorities to explain his position about the controversial speech.

The ECP statement said that the Chief Minister threatened the district administration, police and election staff in his address.

It said a proclaimed offender was also standing with the Chief Minister at the rally.
According to the ECP statement, the Chief Minister’s irresponsible speech has made it difficult to hold the by-election peacefully.
The lives of the district administration, police and election duty staff and voters were also at risk,
The Election Commission ordered the Provincial Election Commissioner to hold a meeting with the Chief Secretary and the IG.
