PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued lists of five contesting candidates for Senate bye-elections to be held on October 30, 2025.

The names of the contesting candidates include Taj Mohammad Afridi, son of Sakhi Gul Afridi, resident of Koki Khel Tehsil, Jamrod District, Khyber, Khurram Zeeshan son of Nasir Khan resident Kohat, Abid Khan Yousafzai son of Jamshed Khan resident of  Lund Khwat Tehsil Takhtbahi District Mardan, Irafan Saleem son of Saleemullah Khan resident of Ittihad colony Peshawar, Nisar Khan son of Safdar Khan,  resident of Khweshgi Payan District Nowshera who belongs to Pakistan People Party Parliamentarian while the rest of the four mentioned candidate will contest election in independent category.

The seat of the Senate fell vacant upon the disqualification and de-notification of Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Senator Syed Shibli Faraz, from being a member of the Senate under Article 63 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The office of the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate had become vacant on 5th August 2025.
