Earthquake tremors were felt in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad on Wednesday evening. However, no damages have been reported as yet.

According to initial reports, as soon as tremors were felt in the federal capital, Swat, Upper Dir, Kalam, Bajaur, and Khyber, people came out of their homes and offices, reciting Quranic verses.

According to PMD Islamabad, the earthquake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 114 kilometres. The epicentre of the earthquake was the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan.

The earthquake was so intense that people ran from shops and residential buildings to open areas.

No reports of any loss of life or property have been received so far.

According to the Seismological Centre, more details are being collected regarding the depth and determination of the epicentre of the earthquake, while the administration in the affected areas has been put on high alert.
